This powerful scene is found in Mark 4:35–41. After a long day of teaching, Jesus and His disciples set out across the Sea of Galilee. As they sail, a violent storm arises, threatening to sink the boat. The disciples, some of them seasoned fishermen, panic as the waves crash over them — but Jesus is asleep in the stern.
In desperation, they wake Him: “Teacher, don’t you care that we are perishing?” Jesus rises, rebukes the wind, and says to the sea, “Peace, be still.” Instantly, the storm ceases, and there is a great calm.
Amazed and terrified, the disciples ask one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?” In that moment, they witness the divine authority of Christ — not only over sickness and demons, but over creation itself.

This moment is more than a miracle; it is a reminder for all believers. When storms rise in our lives and fear threatens to overwhelm us, Jesus remains sovereign. Even when He seems silent, He is present. His power to calm physical storms reflects His power to bring peace to the troubled heart.
In the hands of the Master, even the fiercest waves must obey.
