Do You Truly Believe Jesus?
Many call themselves Christians and claim to believe in Jesus Christ. Yet some question or deny the very people and events that Jesus Himself affirmed as historical fact. But to believe Jesus is more than accepting His name; it is to receive His every word as the Word of the living God.

Jesus Affirms the Whole Word of God
Jesus declared,
The scripture cannot be broken. - John 10:35
He treated the Old Testament not as myth but as the unshakable Word of God. He said,
Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. - Matthew 5:18
To follow Christ therefore includes believing the entire testimony of Scripture, for He is its fulfillment. (see Luke 24:44)

Jesus Cited Genesis as History
Adam and Eve: When questioned about marriage, Jesus referred to the first human pair as real people:
Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female... For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh. - Matthew 19:4-5; Mark 10:6-8
Noah and the Flood: Speaking of His second coming, Jesus warned,
As the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking... until the day that Noe entered into the ark. - Matthew 24:37-39; Luke 17:26-27
He treated the flood as literal judgment, not as allegory.
Abel: Jesus spoke of the blood of righteous Abel (see Luke 11:51) as historical martyrdom.

Jesus Endorsed the Prophets' Histories
Jonah: Far from a parable, Jesus called Jonah's three days in the fish a prophetic sign of His own burial and resurrection:
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. - Matthew 12:40
Sodom and Lot: Jesus gave a sober warning,
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot... But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. - Luke 17:28-29
He compared their destruction to the suddenness of His return.
Moses and the Burning Bush: He referred to God's words to Moses as historical revelation (see Mark 12:26).
Elijah and the Widow: Jesus recalled Elijah's ministry and the widow of Sarepta (see Luke 4:25-26), underscoring real events.

Fact, Not Parable
Jesus often spoke in parables, clearly signaling when He did so (see Luke 15:3, Matthew 13:3). But when He mentioned Adam and Eve, Noah, Jonah, or Sodom, He never introduced them as parables. Instead He presented them as established history that supports His teaching and points to future realities.

Believing Jesus Means Believing All He Said
Jesus testified,
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. - Matthew 24:35
To doubt any statement He presented as fact is to question His truthfulness. He rebuked those who profess outward faith but reject God's Word:
Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? - Luke 6:46

The Apostle John records Jesus' own standard:
He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. - John 12:48

Conclusion: Wholehearted Faith in the Living Word
True belief in Jesus is wholehearted trust in Him as the Son of God and unreserved acceptance of all He declared. To confess Him as Lord is to confess the truth of His testimony—from Adam to Noah, from Jonah to Sodom, and everything else He affirmed. As Jesus Himself said,
Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. - John 17:17
To believe Jesus is to believe the whole Word of God, for every fact He stated is fact indeed.
